A 45-metre white marble Buddha statue on a hilltop overlooking the south of the island. A landslide on the site killed 13 people in August 2024 and the area was closed for a safety and legal investigation; it reopened for good on 2026-03-03, and Google's own listing still incorrectly shows it as permanently closed, worth knowing before planning around it.

Caveats
Researched, not founder-visited: the founder has not been to Phuket. The 2024 landslide and 2026 reopening are the single most important thing a visitor needs to know here, a generic 'iconic statue' listing would miss it entirely.
